Liu Jianchao Meets with Maris Sangiampongsa, Thai Foreign Minister
Beijing, July 10th–Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with Maris Sangiampongsa, Thai Foreign Minister.
Liu stated, under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and Thai leaders, China and Thailand have adhered to the correct direction in bilateral relations, firmly supported each other on issues concerning respective core interests and major concerns, and achieved fruitful results in cooperation between the two countries across various fields. The concept of “China and Thailand are as close as one family” has become deeply rooted in people’s hearts.
China-Thailand relations have become a model of state-to-state relations. Next year is the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand. The Chinese side is ready to work with the Thai side to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of both countries, strengthen strategic communication, deepen cooperation in economy, trade, tourism, and innovation, accelerate the construction on the China-Thailand railway, expand people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and promote China-Thailand community with a shared future for in-depth development.
The Chinese side is ready to enhance coordination with the Thai side in multilateral mechanisms such as China-ASEAN and the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation to jointly maintain regional peace and development.
Liu said, relationship between political parties is an important driving force for the development of China-Thailand relations. The CPC attaches importance to friendly exchanges with Thai political parties including the Pheu Thai Party, and is willing to strengthen high-level exchanges, deepen exchanges and mutual learning of experience in party governance and state administration, and intensify exchanges between youth and media, to enhance bilateral relations.
The CPC will soon hold the third plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee. China will further deepen reform across the board and promote high-level opening up, as well as share new opportunities with countries worldwide, including Thailand.
Maris said, this is my first to China as the Foreign Minister, with the main purpose of implementing the important consensus reached by Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin and Chinese leaders, including President Xi Jinping. Next year is the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and China.
The Thai side is willing to take this opportunity to strengthen high-level exchanges, align Thailand’s eight visions with China’s development strategies, and promote cooperation in economy, trade, agriculture, infrastructure, transportation, logistics, and technological innovation.
The Thai side hopes to make good use of mutual visa exemption policy between the two countries to expand personnel exchanges, and bring the two countries even closer. The Thai side is also willing to strengthen coordination with the Chinese side in international and regional affairs.
The Pheu Thai Party and other Thai political parties cherish their friendly relations with the CPC and are ready to strengthen inter-party exchanges, learn from the CPC’s experience in state governance and administration, and promote everlasting friendship between Thailand and China.
